Evangeline's. A name that rolls off the tongue with a Southern drawl and gives the vision of Jambalaya in steaming bowls nearby.

Evangeline's Bistro and Music House has been around the corner of the Central West End hub for over a decade. But their food makes you feel like you've been dining there for 40 years.

Delivering rich flavors within familiar and New Orleans dishes, this jazz lounge houses a live band every Sunday morning during Sunday Brunch to lend a soundtrack to the soulful, Cajun-inspired food on the menu. We were talking about life and waiting for our food to come, when all of the sudden the conversation came to a halt as the delectable dishes were set in front of us. The conversation did not resume again 'til the plates were wiped clean with bits of crusty French bread at the end of the meal! The only articulation of story, mood, and memories we needed at that moment was coming from the dishes we enjoyed. Evangeline's propels the warmth of rich jazz history in the Lou and conveys its French roots. This is not a place to miss. And you have to get the warm beignets, it's the law.
