cooking with love

The smell of bacon sizzling in the oven is so welcoming, as it opens up the senses to prepare for the creation of a cozy soup night. An unexpectedly perfect pairing to the aromatic air was a dry organic white wine I was sipping while my mom practiced the harp a few rooms over. It felt like she was serenading the meal I was about to prepare. What I created was a perfect complement for the setting I found myself in, cooking solo, enjoying both the music and the process of simple weeknight cooking.

The meal was a Tuscan Sausage and Kale Gnocchi Soup inspired by a recipe in Half Baked Harvest, a new favorite cookbook by Tieghan Gerard. It was AMAZING.

I just wanted to take this opportunity to express the beauty and joy that a hearty, lovely soup night can bring. So warming to your inner body and an ideal meal to be shared with others. Very rarely do people eat soup by oneself unless ordered at a restaurant.

The rich body of the chicken stock and coconut milk base laid a delectable foundation for the meat, vegetable, and potato pasta mixture. All the best players of the game. Just a short and sweet love letter to a soup night in November.
